The very awaited 2015 Mustang is still a bit unclear about its specifications, but 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine option and independent rear suspension seem to be very likely.
The public isn’t sure whether this engine will be enough for this iconic american muscle car due to its weight and V6/V8 legacy. Anyway, 2.3 liter engine is mostly orientated to European market and here comes some interesting information from Matthias Ton, who happens to be chief engineer for Focus ST division. According to the specifications claimed for the next ST, it seems logical that Mustang will share its 2.3 EcoBoost engine with the next generation Ford Focus ST.
We’ve searched for current Focus ST specifications online and found out that for now it’s got a 2.0 liter engine that develops up to 252 horses. So, 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine from Mustang would increase ST’s power up to 330 horses. Guys, Focus will definitely weight less and will probably feature the same engine as Mustang which happens to be a legendary muscle car. Does it mean Focus is to join muscle car club? Noup… It is more likely that the 2.3 powered 2015 Mustang would get exiled from the muscle car family.
