Rumors say, that Ford will bring back old names like SVO and Cobra with the S550 platform. According to US Patent and Trademark Office Ford filed the trademark for “Mach 1” too.
A bit of Mach 1 history
The first time Ford used Mach 1 name was back in 1969 when they filled the space in between GT abd Boss 302. 1969 Mach 1 features matte-black hood with shaher scoop, chin spoiler and Magnum 500 wheels. In1971 Mach 1 replaced GT and featured the same matte-black hood, 2 hood scoops, turn signals were installed in the grille. 2003 saw the revive of the nameplate which stood in between GT and Cobra this time. 2003 Mach 1 featured special badge, 4.6 liter V8 with 305 horses and similar Mach 1 design updates.
