The long-awaited mid-engine Corvette is finally here. It lives as 8th generation 2020 year model and has a Targa top and will also be available as a right-hand drive. The supercar looks hides 6.2-liter LT2 V8 that develops 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It uses Tremec 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and sends the power, traditionally, to the rear wheels. GM claim this C8 Corvette does 0-60 in under 3 seconds if you’ve ticked the Z51 pack checkmark when ordering your Vette.
8-speed dual-clutch transmissions make it a good highway cruiser and also lets you burn rubber on red light stops. The car is also a light one. It doesn’t yet feature an already popular hybrid solution, so its chassis that is built from mixed-materials and uses die-cast aluminum components weights 3,366 pounds.
Other features include an electronic limited-slip differential, 6 driving modes (Weather, Tour, Sport, Track, MyMode (individually configurable) and Z Mode (for performance driving), coil springs (not leaf ones) and 11.5:1 compression ratio.
Targa top can be stored in the trunk which is very practical as well as the nose-lift to fight those curbs.
The good news is that you can get all of this for just under $60k. Yeap. New mid-engine supercar looking V8 beast for under $60k. What a bargain!
