Well, evolution instead of revolution (just like Dodge and Chevy do). Modern, edgy looks managed to keep that Mustang DNA but you can still see the obvious overall looks similar to the previous S550 model. Traditionally it comes in fastback and convertible body styles. The front end for GT and Ecoboost models a very distinctive and will allow you to identify them much easier. Muscular rear haunches are widened even more to express that edgy look. Rear lights have been notched into the body with the overall rear end line – a nice and pretty unique feature. Interestingly the roof line was intentionally sloped by engineers to make the in and out entry easier for drivers with helmets.
Engines remain the same displacement, but Ford claims, that the 5.0 V8 is all new and 2023 GT will have the most powerful engine ever, but give no detailed specs yet (so, simply estimate more than 450 HP). 2.3 Ecoboost will feature the new turbo and presumably more power. No hybrid or electric options have yet been announced. Transmission options: 6-speed manual with rev-match or 10-speed improved automatic. All versions feature limited-slip diff and similar weight to the previous model. GT features Bembo brakes (with a pony logo!).
The Interior looks good, modern, has better materials, and looks… nothing like a Mustang anymore when you look at the dashboard. Its legendary dashboard dual humps are gone and have been replaced by dominating modern, crispy, nice screens with different view options (especially nice easter egg is with Fox body one (check that in Doug’s video below at 9:30). It also rocks Ford’s latest SYNC4 system.
